Orthotist Thomas hard at work preparing a Gensingen brace for a scoliosis patient
Thomas is the best, both with the braces but most of all with the kids. The way he treats the kids and motivates them is truly great. A key factor to prepare them for this.
Good job by this 11 year old stopping the curve progression and even achieving Cobb angle reduction by wearing her Gensingen brace like a champ. Reduction achieved over 9 months while in primary growth spurt.
Some times it is possible to achieve reduction of scoliosis in immature patients
After treatment of Early Onset Scoliosis with the Gensingen brace and a reduction from 27 to 2 degrees (with the curve no longer being defined as a scoliosis) this patient is now entering her teenage growth spurt. This is a first time for us at DSC. The recommendation is now to end brace treatment and in stead continue follow ups in specialised physiotherapy and by the orthopedic surgeon while going through her growth spurt. If future brace treatment is needed - time will tell.
Today we had the pleasure of welcoming a group of dedicated SBP physiotherapists from Denmark Sweden Norway and the UK. Orthotist Thomas Borregaard and physiotherapist Lisa Elliott informed about working with Gensingen brace for children with scoliosis, the production, fitting and recheck process.
